The report, “Jallikattu bulls go for a pittance” (May 21) was distressing. That these majestic animals are now being sent to slaughter houses is shameful. The bull is associated with Siva and it is a shame that bull-tamers are ill-treating the animals now. In slaughter houses in India, animals face a death that causes deep distress. One of the methods used is “Exsanguination” where the animal either has its throat cut or a chest stick inserted that cuts deep and close to the heart. In both methods, the arteries are cut and the animal dies in a gruesome way. I wonder what animal lovers have to say now. They need to hang their heads in shame.
