This refers to the report, “Suhag’s appointment is final, says Jaitley” (June 12). General (retd.) and now Minister of State V.K. Singh has become an MP with a thumping majority which led the Prime Minister to think it fit to appoint him to the Ministry. However, instead of being fully engaged with his new and important assignment, he has once again created controversy by raking up his apparent animosity toward the Army chief-designate. It is apparent that he has refused to grow out of his army boots and take up his new responsibilities with maturity. The BJP has only followed what the UPA thought fit on the elevation of Lt. Gen. Suhag; it is a collective Cabinet decision.
The chaos being created by Minister Singh proves that he is egoistic, controversial and, I daresay, someone who vocalises his thoughts without adequate forethought. These are reasons enough for the Prime Minister to tell him firmly to refrain from such actions and to conduct himself with dignity; else he must be shown the door. No politics in the defence services, please.
