New Army chief

An outgoing government is often seen as a “lame duck”, and it is not supposed to take any important decisions. However, strangely, UPA-2 seems very active in appointing persons to important posts like the post of the Army chief. Its active role in attempting to appoint an enquiry committee to look into the “snoopgate” issue is another example. Having smelt defeat at the hustings, it seems to be doing everything in its capacity before a new government is elected to power.
