Mufti’s remarks

March 04, 2015 12:52 am | Updated 02:24 am IST

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s remark on how Pakistan, the Hurriyat and militants helped create a conducive atmosphere for State elections (“ >Mufti’s remarks rock Parliament ,” March 3), was unwarranted. Does he not recognise the key contribution by the Election Commission of India and our armed forces? And what about the people of the State? The Mufti-led Peoples Democratic Party has forged an alliance with the BJP to ensure corruption-free governance and not to play to the gallery of vested interests waiting to foment trouble in the State. Equally disconcerting is his remark on “returning Afzal Guru’s mortal remains”.
