Islamic State is a concept that found its way only from the last century (Editorial, and “India bans IS,” both Dec.17). Its present campaign has turned ugly and the ban is necessary. The people of India are not against Islam or Muslims, and the ban on IS will in no way affect the ordinary citizen. Security concerns should not be compromised while ensuring freedom of expression. The repercussions of posting material on social media are instant, more so if the one who posts has not analysed the facts. Self-restraint is the best policy, but this is unlikely.
