In solidarity with The Hindu

Please accept my sincerest congratulations on your refusal to be browbeaten by the police ( >September 18, 2013 ), but then nothing less was expected from The Hindu . Whatever the muscle-flexing displayed by the police, one suspects, faced with an hallowed institution like The Hindu , they will finally slink away. But I very much hope you will not let the matter lie there, for harassment by the police of ordinary citizens on similar grounds has become the bane of our civil life.

I urge The Hindu to use this occasion to take up the crusade farther so that antiquated laws used against freedom of thought and expression are struck down or at least applied with greater restraint.

The Hindu has led many noble causes, and I cannot think of a worthier cause you could espouse at this moment.
