This refers to the report, “Stop parading accused before media, says SC” (Aug.29). The Supreme Court moving to censure the attitude of security agencies towards accused persons is a real requirement at this juncture, especially when the police seem to go overboard at times when reporting arrests. The cardinal principle of law that every accused person is innocent till his or her guilt is proven is intentionally discredited by some security agencies. How does one compensate the accused for the loss of dignity, especially when he or she is proven innocent? What about the ordeal the family faces? There are times when some media outlets even air interviews with the accused. This directive by the Supreme Court must be communicated to all media outlets.
