Dalit leaders

This refers to the article “Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram — so alike, yet so different” (May 11) by Badri Narayan. I think Kanshi Ram's political movement should be seen as part of post-Ambedkar India. Dalit movement is difficult to understand without understanding the social philosophical movements in India at different ages. Kanshi Ram himself said throughout his lifetime that he was Dr. Ambedkar's follower.

Kanshi Ram was a great political leader and, like many other political leaders, he organised and gathered his constituency using many strategies. But Dr. Ambedkar, with his worldly perspective, changed the country's fate. He was a liberator and philosopher.
