The editorial “No time to die” (Nov. 26) was indeed thought-provoking. Our student community is mentally distressed due to financial and social reasons. Lack of positive thinking is the main barrier. Counselling should be made part of the curriculum to avert suicides among the young.

I am a graduate of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. Very few students in my class opted for the branch out of interest. Most of them came because they could not get admission to popular branches like CS, IT and EC. While some can cope with new subjects, others are disappointed and distressed.
