The expulsion of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the AAP’s primary membership has impoverished the party and demonstrated the leadership’s intolerance to dissent and criticism ( >Editorial, April 24 ).
Though the AAP was born out of an anti-corruption campaign, the events show that it needs to position itself as a mainstream political outfit with a broader vision. With the exit of articulate spokespersons, the party’s political fortunes hinge on good governance by Arvind Kejriwal. The handling of the farmer’s suicide in Delhi speaks poorly about the functioning of the Delhi administration.
