A boost for women

The inauguration of the first women commercial bank of the country, Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB), is a welcome step. If one remembers right, Syndicate Bank did flag off this concept earlier, with only women managing a bank, and which has sustained itself to date. Women power will surely enhance the fiscal scene.

The bank is a major step. One would also like to recall small steps like “she taxis” that have been started in Kerala. At a time when women seem to be at the receiving end, such empowering steps must be given wide publicity.
