AIADMK interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala’s parting shot in re-inducting her nephews and appointing them as key leaders in her faction of the AIADMK has further lowered her esteem in the public eye. Her audacious move to bring family and friends into the party fold moments before she left for jail has raised many eyebrows. It could hasten the disintegration of the party.

Ms. Sasikala can perhaps draw some satisfaction from successfully installing a man of her choice which will ensure her de facto control over governance even from her prison cell. She has quite clearly retained control over the party. The Governor has performed his constitutional obligations with dignity and grace.
