Correction and Clarifications — April 27, 2016

April 27, 2016 12:14 am | Updated 12:14 am IST

>>In a report, “Pak. must control its terror groups” (April 22, 2016), the Iranian Ambassador to India, Gholamreza Ansari, was quoted as saying in response to a question on terrorist activities from Pakistani soil within Iranian territory: “We have tried to convince Pakistan to stop such activities that use Pakistani soil to target Iranian interests and we hope that Pakistan will reciprocate our requests.”

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi, has clarified that what Mr. Ansari said was: “This is something [that] quite happens in different times and we are trying to cooperate and talk to the Pakistanis how we can stop this sort of difficulties in our borders. The problem is that we are the main party who are paying a lot of attention to the border between Iran and Pakistan and we are trying to encourage Pakistan to reciprocate these efforts to stop these sorts of activities.”

>>The headline of a report should have been “I have no recollection of seeing the first affidavit: Chidambaram”, and not “I did not see the first affidavit, says Chidambaram” (April 26, 2016).

In the same report, the fifth paragraph said: “The BJP has dragged Congress president Sonia Gandhi into the controversy, accusing her of exerting influence over Mr. Chidambaram in 2004 — when he served as Union Home Minister. He was Home Minister between 2008 and 2012.
