The United Democratic Front (UDF) held a protest meet at Karipur on Tuesday against the Central and State governments’ alleged neglect of the Calicut International Airport.

Inaugurating the meet, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) State president Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal said the State government should keep its promise of resuming Haj services from the Karipur airport.

Delivering the keynote address, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy called upon all political parties to stand united for salvaging the past glory of Karipur. “This is not just a problem of Malabar, it is the problem of the entire State,” he said.

District Congress Committee president V.V. Prakash presided. IUML national treasurer P.K. Kunhalikutty; M.K. Raghavan, MP; E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP; P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP; IUML district president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal, secretary K.N.A. Khader spoke, among others.
