Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram and the former Minister of State for External Affairs, will marry Sunanda Pushkar at his ancestral Mundarath Tharavad at Elavanchery, near here, on August 22, the first Onam day of Uthradam. Ms. Pushkar is from Kashmir.

Mr. Tharoor's uncle Mukundan Unni told The Hindu here on Monday that family members assemble on the first day of every Onam at the Mundarath house. Hence, the marriage was scheduled that day.

Ms. Pushkar's family members are expected to arrive in Palakkad well in advance.

A marriage party has been planned in Delhi on September 3, family sources said.
