Gopinath (35) of Ramachettipalayam was washed away near Arumugakavundanoor on Friday night while attempting to cross a causeway, near the Arumugakavundanoor tank, which was overflowing, on his two-wheeler.
Those who were waiting at the place for the waters to recede, and those who gathered there to witness the overflowing waters alerted the police and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
They recovered his two-wheeler around 100m away from the causeway.
They recovered his body around 200 m away from the causeway on Saturday morning.
The police said that Gopinath was working as a delivery boy for an LPG dealer.
Heavy rain continued to pound Coimbatore on Friday night too.
Sources said that a few check dams in and around Madukkarai, and compound walls of a few houses in Kovaipudur, were damaged.
