A huge tree inside the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital fell on electric poles on Divyodaya Hall Road and resulted in traffic and power disruption for a while on Tuesday morning.

According to sources the hospital administration had planned to transplant the tree from present location near the new mortuary to another place inside the hospital and had engaged an earth mover for the purpose.

As the work to uproot the tree was under way, the tree fell towards the southern side on to an electric pole, which in turn fell on an another pole resulting in power and traffic disruption for a while in the area.

The police and Tangedco stopped the movement of vehicles and carried out repair work.
