There is still scope to find a solution to the Ayodhya issue through talks, said Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi here on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, the Sankaracharya said Muslims of Indian origin in general preferred to maintain good relationship with Hindus. However, the influence of “outside agencies” deterred them from remaining firm on their stand.
“I made it clear to them at a meeting held at Pune last month that co-existence of Hindus and Muslims is an integral part of Indian History. Hindus and Muslims can jointly fight for the right to perform religious prayers at mosques and dhargahs being maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and to achieve this Indian Muslims should come forward to accept the Allahabad High Court order.
It will be a stepping stone for finding an amicable solution to the present impasse on the issue,” he said.
