With dispute prevailing over the conduct of temple festival at Marisi Amman Temple at Nallur in Punjai Puliyampatti in Sathyamangalam, revenue officials sealed it on Sunday.

The temple belongs to a particular community who were offering prayers for over 50 years.

A person belonging to another community was performing puja all these years. Temple festival used to be conducted annually for which devotees from nearby districts also attend.

Recently, the temple administration held a meeting in which they decided to conduct the festival on February 4 and works began. Since, the person who is performing the puja is an aged person, the administration decided to appoint another person. This led to stiff opposition from the person.

On February 3, Revenue Divisional Officer Govindaraj, tahsildar P. Krishnan held talks with both the groups. The talks did not yield any results. Hence, revenue officials cancelled the festival and decided to keep the temple under lock. On Sunday, Village Administrative Officer Kumar in the presence of police personnel and representatives from both the groups listed the materials in the temple.
