DMK treasurer and former Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday met former Minister K. Ponmudi, currently staying here after being granted conditional bail in the red sand quarry case.
Mr. Stalin, who came here from Coimbatore by road, was closeted with Mr. Ponmudi in a hotel where the latter has been staying for some time now. Mr. Ponmudi was granted bail by the Villupuram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court with a condition to sign twice every day in a Judicial Magistrate court here. Later, Mr. Stalin left for Chennai by air, sources said. Asked about the recent violent incidents in Dharmapuri and Ramanathapuram and the prevailing law and order situation in the State, Mr. Stalin claimed that the people were preparing themselves for a change that would be reflected in the Lok Sabha elections.
On the power cut issue, Mr. Stalin said the entire country knew the verdict people gave when load shedding timing was enforced during the DMK regime after making prior announcements. With power cuts lasting for several hours in the AIADMK rule now, people would give a clear verdict, he said.
