Forest officials in Coimbatore have translocated a two-month-old male elephant calf that was abandoned by its mother to the elephant camp at Kozhikamudhi near Top Slip in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve.
As instructed by Chief Wildlife Warden R. Sundarraju and directed by Conservator of Forests R. Kannan and District Forest Officer I. Anwardeen, the calf was safely transported to Top Slip early on Friday.
Field Director of ATR H. Basuvaraju has deputed a team of exclusively trained staff to take care of the calf.
The calf is reported to be healthy.
