The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Friday complained to Governor Surjit Singh Barnala about the “highly arbitrary and discriminatory” attitude of the State government in filing land grabbing cases against its members.

In a petition submitted to the Governor, the party stated that false complaints were filed against the members. In certain cases, even without due process of law, arrest had taken place which was “totally unwarranted and uncalled for.”

To protest against the action of the authorities, the party had decided to commence stirs in a peaceful manner from August 1 and in case there was no change on the part of the authorities, the agitation programme would continue.

The petition, signed by K.S. Radhakrishnan, P.V. Kalyanasundaram and R. Girirajan, called upon the Governor to intervene and give necessary direction to the government.
