Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said key UPA ally Trinamool Congress would abide by the decision of the government on the issue of a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum allocation.

“I had a talk with them. Whatever the decision of the government, they will stand by it. That they have stated,” Mukherjee told reporters here when asked about Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee’s remarks that she will be happy if the government forms a JPC on the 2G spectrum allocation.

With 19 MPs, the Trinamool Congress is the second largest constituent of the UPA after the Congress.

Ms. Banerjee had yesterday said that, “We will not topple the government. We will not withdraw support to the government. I do not know what the government is going to decide. We have full trust on Prime Minister. We will be happy if the government forms the JPC”.
