The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed noisy scenes on Tuesday in protest against the killing of a 11-day-old baby boy in Baramulla district.
As soon as the question hour began, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti stood up from the opposition bench along with 21 party MLAs and sought a discussion on the killing of the boy on Monday.
However, Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone told the Opposition leader that all issues pertaining to day to day problems would be discussed after the question hour.
The speaker said he would seek a reply from the government after the question hour.
However, Mehbooba said, “It is an important and urgent issue. It is a sensitive and human issue so discussion should be held at this point.”
Later, members of PDP walked into the well of the House, and raised anti-government slogans.
The House witnessed a noisy scene for about 20 minutes after which PDP staged a walkout.
The ailing infant, who was rushed to hospital in a mini-bus died after protesters demanding release of youth arrested on charges of stone-pelting on security forces in the past few weeks in Kashmir, stopped the vehicle and roughed up its passengers in Baramulla yesterday.
