Maoists call for three-day bandh in four States

Maoists have called for a three-day bandh in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Orissa States from Monday to oppose the joint offensive launched by the security forces against the revolutionary movement.

In a statement here on Saturday, the party central committee spokesman Azad and its Central Regional Bureau (CRB) spokesperson Pratap said the joint offensive, named as Operation Green Hunt, was nothing but a concerted attempt to drive out the tribals permanently from their native villages and hand over the forest lands to corporate houses.

They criticised that the police forces in these four States were resorting to attacks on civilians and justifying their ‘cold blooded’ killings after branding their victims as Maoists. “Almost 150,000 troops are said to be taking part in this joint offensive in just the three zones under the CRB of CPI (Maoist), namely Dandakaranya, North Telangana and Andhra – Orissa Border Special Zone”, they said.
