No secret pacts: BJP leader

October 04, 2010 08:26 pm | Updated 08:26 pm IST - KOTTAYAM:

The district unit of the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released the list of 14 candidates to the 23-member Kottayam district panchayat.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, district president Ettumanur Radhakrishnan made it clear that there would not be any secret understandings with any parties this time. “If we arrive at any understanding with any party, that will be open,” he said.

He said that talks were still going on for finalising the list of party candidates and a clear picture would emerge within the next two days. “Where ever we decide not to field party candidates, the party would support suitable independent candidates,” he said.

Reacting to a question, he said that the party would oppose both the LDF and UDF and work towards defeating both the fronts.

The following is the list of candidates declared by the party on Monday—Vaikom: Jagada Anilkumar; Uzhavoor: Jijo Joseph; Bharananganam: K.G. Girish; Erattupetta: Rajesh C. Parackal; Erumeli: K.P. Sanil Kumar; Ponkunnam: Vasudeva Panicker; Kanganzha: Shanthakumari; Pampady: Mini Nandakumar; Ayarkunnam (SC Reserved): K Rajappan. Puthuppally: M. Narayanan; Kurichy: Korah C. George; Ettumanur: K. Pisharadi; Athirampuzha: Suma Vijayan and Thrikodithanam: Uma Devi.
