Former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and his wife on Friday sought exemption from personal appearance before the Lokayukta court on a complaint, alleging illegal construction on government land and allotment of site under discretionary quota when they already possessed a plot of land.

Counsels for Mr. Gowda and his wife filed applications in this regard stating they could not be present in court as they were in Belgaum on Thursday in connection with inauguration of the “Suvarna Vidhana Soudha” by President Pranab Mukherjee.

After allowing their applications, Judge N K Sudhindra Rao directed them to appear before the court on October 31 and issued Non Bailable Warrant against the third accused Ravi involved in the case as he also did not appear before the court.

On September 25, the Lokayukta court had ordered issue of summons to Mr. Gowda, his wife and Mr. Ravi on the complaint.

The court had asked them to appear before it today.
