The Bhadravati police, who had submitted a charge sheet to the court on the marks card scam, in Kuvempu University are probing the misuse of unused answer sheets.

The police said the procedures related to retrieving the unused answer sheets from the colleges were not followed strictly by the university. The police said exploiting this lacunae, employees of some colleges gave unused answer sheets to interested students during the gap between the conclusion of the exam and commencement of the evaluation. The students wrote answers in the unused sheets, which were later inserted in the original bunch of sheets. The police said some of these students who failed in the exam, got pass marks after re-evaluation.

During the raid on the houses of some of these college employees who were arrested for their alleged involvement in the scam, the police had seized many unused answer sheets.

With the help of the code numbers printed on these answer sheets, the police gathered information from the Examination section of the Kuvempu University on the colleges for which they were sent.
