Two persons, including a 55-year-old woman, were murdered in two incidents in the last 24 hours.

The woman, Eshwaramma, was murdered allegedly by her nephew at her residence in Chamundinagar in R.T. Nagar police station limits here on Sunday. The police said that murder happened when the accused Prasad (35) went for lunch at Eshwaramma’s house.

During lunch, an altercation broke out between the two over family issues.

An angry Prasad, the police said, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his aunt on the chest and stomach.

Eshwaramma was rushed to Baptist Hospital and then shifted to Fortis Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Eshwaramma lived with her husband, Kailasam (65), a security guard, and their daughter, Kumari (35), all of whom hail from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. Kailasam and Kumari rushed to the rescue of Eshwaramma when Prasad attacked her. But their efforts went in vain. Kailasam and Kumari suffered minor injuries.

Prasad, a carpenter, is absconding, the police said. He was living with his wife and two children on the same lane where Eshwaramma lived.

In the other incident, a 36-year-old man was murdered by a group of five members in Vaddarapalya in Bannerghatta police station limits here on Saturday night.

The victim, Venkateshappa alias Venkataswami, a tractor driver, was killed allegedly by Abbayya (29) and his four associates.

The police said that the murder was a fall-out of a fight between Abbaya and Venkateshappa.

Venkateshappa had accused Abbayya of stealing his mobile phone, the police said. The Bannerghatta police arrested Abbayya and two of his associates, Nagaraj (45) and Venkatesh Murthy (58), also of Vaddarapalya.

The police have taken up further investigation.
