The sudden downpour in the afternoon brought much needed relief to the city residents as they were experiencing sweltering heat from the morning here on Wednesday.
Rain lashed the city and its outskirts for an hour.
Rainwater stagnated on the streets causing hardship for two-wheeler riders. Arterial roads in the city, Brough Road, and Mettur Road, were flooded affecting the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Places where underground sewer system work was progressing added to the misery of citizens. Low lying areas too remained flooded for hours together. Various parts of the district received moderate rainfall on Wednesday. The average maximum temperature stood at around 30 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 22 degree Celsius. The next four days are expected to be cloudy according to a weather. Rainfall was likely at few places in the district.
