Submits CD containing signatures of 1.56 crore people
YSR Congress leader Y.S. Vijayamma submitted a petition to President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi on Tuesday questioning the right of the government “to intrude into the personal businesses and affairs” of a person when no complaint was lodged by any investor.
In her petition, she referred to the recent statement of Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram that the personal affairs of a private individual could not be investigated.
She also recalled that the Supreme Court had barred investigation into the affairs of Dimple Yadav, wife of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, and held that since she did not hold any public office, the CBI could not investigate her affairs. Ms. Vijayamma led a delegation of YSR Congress leaders to the President to whom she submitted a CD containing signatures of 1.56 crore people on a petition protesting the continued illegal detention by the CBI of the party president, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, for the past eight months.
The petition sought the President’s intervention to end the injustice.
She said Andhra Pradesh had been witnessing a case of blatant violation of human rights by the CBI in the name of investigation of Jagan who had been arrested and placed in custody for the last seven and half months.
The memorandum contended that during the period of investigation, Jagan did not hold any office in government and was only a private individual residing in Bangalore. He never spoke to any Minister or IAS officer nor stepped once into the Secretariat or CMO.
Charge against CBI
Referring to the CBI’s charge that YSR doled out largesse to many corporates, which, in turn, invested in Jagan’s companies, the memorandum said it was not fair on the CBI’s part to attribute motives to a person who was no longer there to defend himself. This was especially so when there were no procedural deviations in the GOs issued by the Cabinet.
“This was certified by the government in the Supreme Court on the 26 GOs issued by various departments,” it added.

It is ridiculous to say that Jagan Reddy is innocent. How can he explain his enormous wealth.Saying that he did not hold any office and therefore he could not have made huge money illegally is also childish to say the least. The fact that his father was CM of the state and there is prima facie evidence that this was a case of quid pro quo is enough to nail him. More over Supreme Court has not given him bail till date and by submitting more than one crore(Which anyway is impossible in such a short time)signatures , he is only trying to influence the judiciary which is a major crime !
Persons who are perceived to be and are found to a threat to society need to be kept
away from society until proven otherwise. The economic offenses committed by Mr
jagan is criminal when viewed from all angles and has affected the lives of common
citizens and poor people of andhra pradesh. I pray his mother read her Bible
thoroughly before attempting to get any verdict from the president. I was under the
impression congress was hand in glove with jagan in corruption only to be proven
wrong. I hope people appreciate the fact.
So if a few crore people sign a petition, a person can be construed innocent or guilty?
YSRCP really need to do some soul searching. I am disappointed that the president
gave an audience to such an outrageous request.
