Lok Sabha Member from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal on Friday declared that he will quit politics if Andhra Pradesh was divided as it would spell doom for the people.
At a press conference on Friday, the MP expressed confidence that the Union Government will not take a decision to divide the State and that none can achieve this without following the laid down procedure.
“Any resolution brought in the State Assembly or in Parliament will get defeated and I will work in that direction,” Mr. Rajagopal told reporters.
Appealing to Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu to respect the pride of Telugu people for which his party founder NTR had fought throughout his life, Mr. Rajagopal said that he will meet Mr. Naidu near Jaggayyapet when he enters Krishna District on his ‘Meekosam Padayatra’ and try to ‘open his eyes to reality’.
Congress Party cannot take a decision to divide the State or support the opinion of the majority of the political parties expressed at the December 28, 2012 all-party meeting without amending the Congress Working Committee resolution of 2001 to find a solution through the Second SRC. “The Seemandhra people will wage a silent and non-violent war against the division,” he said.
