J. Rustum Khan, State general secretary of TDP Minority Cell, has said that Muslim intellectuals have appreciated the core philosophy of the TDP Minority Declaration.
Mr. Khan, who explained the TDP policy among youth and Muslim intellectuals, here on Friday said that the policy would create a positive image for the party.
He said that the TDP policy supported 10 per cent quota for Muslim students in government and aided institutions, as per the recommendations of Justice Ranganath Mishra. Similarly, students pursuing professional courses such as engineering, medicine and other courses would get financial support in the form of fee reimbursement.
Also, the TDP policy announced Rs.1 lakh aid to mosques which have remained neglected and maulvis of such mosques would get an honorarium of Rs.5,000 per month.
Popular demands
Wakf Board would have its branches in Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra to resolve wakf property issues locally. All provisions are popular demands of the Muslim community in the State. Similarly, the TDP supported eight per cent quota for Muslims in local body elections. The party promised 10 per cent of the houses for minorities in the State.
The TDP mooted Islamic banking system for minorities, which shunned the interest system. Mr. Rustum Khan said that minority leaders and the general public would soon appreciate the core philosophy of the TDP policy.
Mr. Khan, along with others, conducted street meetings to debate the new policy in old city here.
