Open borewell claims 4-year-old boy’s life

A four-year-old boy died when he accidentally fell into an open borewell in the interior of Vallamkunta village of Malhar Rao mandal in Karimnagar district on Friday.

Reports reaching here said that A. Ajith alias Bablu (4) was playing at his house adjoining the fields.

A farmer was busy harvesting paddy crop through harvester to which the boy got attracted and wanted to watch it closer.

The paddy hay was strewn around and covered the open borewell.

Found dead

The boy, who was watching the harvesting, accidentally fell into the borewell.

The locals noticed this and called the 108 ambulance.

A poclain was rushed to the spot and it dug along the borewell to rescue the boy.

At around 10 feet depth, the locals noticed the hand of the boy and when they retrieved him from the well, he was found dead.

The boy’s parents Rajaiah and Saramma rushed to the spot wailing inconsolably over the accidental death of their son.

The villagers also expressed shock and grief over the gruesome incident.

Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu, who represents the Assembly segment and was touring in the constituency, visited the village and consoled the family members.
