Freedom fighter passes away

Freedom fighter and Telangana protagonist D. Anjaneyulu, 81, who was suffering from an ailment passed away at his residence in Jyothinagar locality of Karimnagar town on Tuesday.

Born on March 5, 1933, he participated in the separate Telangana statehood movement in 1969 along with former Chief Minister Marri Channa Reddy and APSRTC chairman M. Satyanarayana Rao by joining the Telangana Praja Samithi (TPS).

He also went to jail during the Emergency period in 1978. He won as the Karimnagar municipal councillor on three occasions with the symbol of “two leaves” and was popularly called as “Two leaves Anjaneyulu”.

Anjaneyulu has asked for his eyes to be donated after his death to the Indian Red Cross Society.
