Torture of girl: RI for woman, paramour

O. Nagachaitanya, a government teacher, and her paramour P.N. Kumar were sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and Rs. 72,000 fine in the girl torture case which was reported in Venkatachalam in Nellore district in September, 2010.

Second additional sessions in charge judge E.V. Sadananda Murthy awarded the punishment to the duo for ‘causing’ injuries to the girl, Nartana, and also causing her wrongful confinement. Nartana is the six-year-old daughter of Nagachaitanya, who wanted to get rid of the child with the help of her paramour. The girl sustained injuries inflicted with a hot iron rod. The case came to light when the villagers informed the police about it.
