Action against evangelist K.A. Paul has been dropped by the police due to lack of evidence.

Evangelist arrested

Evangelist K.A.Paul and two of his associates were arrested here by the Prakasam police in the early hours of Monday.

Superintendent of Police K Raghuram Reddy said the evangelist had conspired to abduct and murder his associate Koteswara Rao, the main accused in the murder of his brother K David Raju, in Mahaboobnagar district in 2010.

The SP said the evangelist had offered Rs. 1 crore to the Ongole Taluka Police Inspector to assist him in the crime and paid an advance of Rs 3 lakh. His offer was recorded using a spy camera, the SP said.

Dr. Reddy said the accused wanted to eliminate Koteswara Rao fearing that he might expose the plot behind the killing of David Raju. The evangelist was in the town for opening the campaign office of his Prajasanti party ahead of the June 12 byelections.

The brothers reportedly had differences over control of properties of the ministry organisation.
