15 students placed under suspension

Fifteen students of Chikkanna Government Arts College here were placed under suspension on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the clashes that took place on the college campus a few days back.

College principal (in-charge), J. Bhagyamani Alex, told The Hindu that these students, including the four who were arrested, were placed under suspension 15 working days that last till October 23 on the charges of indiscipline and rude behaviour.

Earlier, the College Council, comprising heads of all departments, had recommended the suspension.

Of them, 12 were third year graduation students, and the remaining second year students.

Mrs. Alex said that the the action would be revoked only after parents of these students gave an undertaking that they would behave properly in future.

The suspension of four students who were under arrest might be extended, she added.
