Six foreign nationals escape from Goa Women’s home

Six women from Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Nepal escaped from the Goa government’s Protective home for rescued women on Monday night.

In a daring act, nine women from State government’s Protective home for rescued women at Merces near here escaped on Monday night, while three were caught by police immediately.

Ms. Shilpa Shinde, Director, Goa Women and Child Development confirmed the information while talking to The Hindu on Tuesday morning said that six women — four Bangladeshis, one from Uzbekistan and one Nepali — are still missing. The police search is on.

Ms. Shinde said that on Monday at around 8.30 pm the women tied-down a female constable on duty and escaped from the protective home by jumping the wall. However, an alert driver of the home called the police. A search operation was conducted and three girls were apprehended.

Ms. Shinde said that after obtaining a report from the Superintendent of the home, a detailed inquiry will be conducted.

None of the girls are minors.
