Rajya Sabha was adjourned during Question Hour on Thursday following a heated exchange of words between the ruling and the opposition members over the development of the Bundelkhand region that lies in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Seeking a reply from the government on the development of Bundelkhand, Congress member Satyavrat Chaturvedi charged the Uttar Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh governments with neglect of the region.
This enraged members of the BJP, which is in power in Madhya Pradesh and the Bahujan Samaj Party which rules Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party members also expressed their protest.
However, when Mr. Chaturvedi continued with the tirade and further said that both the governments had “ruined” Bundelkhand, several opposition members were on their feet in protest. Rudra Narayan Pany (BJP), Avtar Singh Karimpuri (BSP) and Amar Singh (SP) stood up in protest and were joined by JD-U members Shivanand Tiwari and N.K. Singh.
As BSP and JD-U members rushed into the well, Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan abruptly adjourned the House.
