The President prorogued the winter session of Parliament on Thursday, paving the way for the government to bring ordinances on certain Bills that could not be passed in the session.
The President prorogued the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha a day after the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs made the recommendation.
The winter session, the second phase of which began on February 5, was adjourned sine die on February 21.
This was the last session of the 15th Lok Sabha as the country goes to the polls shortly.
It will go down in history as the most disrupted session one with the pepper spray incident marking a new low in parliamentary conduct. Repeated disruptions were witnessed on the issue of 2G spectrum and coal allocation scams and the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
