The members of Chennai Auto Ancillary Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Company (CAAIIUC) were happy over the inauguration of waste water-coolant, oil recovery, recycling plant and tertiary treatment plant at Ambattur Industrial Estate.

This equipment will help in recovering the coolant oil discarded from the industrial units in Ambattur Industrial Estate.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation Limited, Hans Raj Verma, inaugurated the plant on July 5.

Rs. 60-lakh project

The system is being supported by storm water drain 3MLD plant. The project cost was put at Rs. 60 lakhs, which can recycle 1,000 litres of water per shift. The plant, with state-of-the-art technology, has been designed and erected by Pune-based manufacturer Wyte Water Technologies.

The plant will cater to nearly 2,500 small and medium units in engineering and non-engineering sectors.

During the inauguration, the Chairman of Chennai Auto Ancillary Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Company (CAAIIUC), Dilip Kumbhat, said that similar plants will soon be installed in Thirumazhisai and Thirumudivakkam industrial estates.

“This will go a long way to stop the current practice of letting waste water and coolant oil into the public water system like storm water and sewage lines. Also this will help in the recovery of the coolant oil from an otherwise discarded waste adding to the economies of the scale of operations of the industrial units,” he said.

Role model

“Ambattur Industrial Estate has already in place other infrastructure facilities like modern roads, storm water drains, street lighting, sewage lines, bus shelters, public convenience, etc.

“With the completion of up-gradation works going on in a phased manner, the estate would become a role model for other industrial estates in the State as well as the rest of the country for a greener and cleaner industrial environment,” added V. Raju, Director, CAAIIUC.

At the inauguration, S.S. Gupta, Senior Development Officer, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, New Delhi; G.V. Parthasarathy, vice-chairman; S. Srinivasan, Director; R. Sridharan, Director; K.S. Jayaraman, Director; K. Sai Sathya Kumar, Director; were present.

CAAIIUC, also known as ‘Chennai Auto Cluster,’ is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) incorporated under section 25 of Companies Act 1956 and promoted to upgrade the infrastructure at the Industrial Estates at Ambattur, Thirumazhisai and Thirumudivakkam, all areas located within 30 km radius of Chennai.
