A day after he spoke of keeping the “unbridled” MLAs “under control” as a solution to the political turmoil in the State, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa seemed to have relented a bit. On Monday, he spoke of having a truce with the Reddy brothers’ group and taking them along with him.
Speaking to presspersons after the foundation-laying ceremony for the relocation of Shirabadagi village in Badami taluk of Bagalkot district on Monday, Mr. Yeddyurappa said: “Because of Reddy brothers we have realised our mistakes. We are going to rectify them ourselves in the interest of the State.”
The Chief Minister said talks were being held in New Delhi to find a solution and H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, was mediating to find solution to the political crisis. Mr. Yeddyurappa said the political situation in the State would return to normality in next two days and said he would give a call to the Reddy brothers to forget the differences and join hands in rebuilding the lives of the flood-affected people.
The Chief Minister clarified that he had no directions from the party high command on how to go about with regard to the dissidence.
Reiterating that he had committed mistakes and as a head of the family he had take everybody along with him by rectifying his mistakes. He said that everybody was bound to make mistakes and the Chief Minister was no exception.
Takes exception

Mr. Yeddyurappa has taken strong exception to media reports that Mr. Ananth Kumar is responsible for the ongoing political crisis.
“Unnecessarily some people are trying to bring in the name of Mr. Kumar along with the Reddy brothers to create confusion amongst ourselves,” he told presspersons at the Jindal airport.
Mr. Yeddyurappa, along with Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, KPCC President R.V. Deshpande and Rajiv Chandrashekar, MP, were on their way to Bagalkot district to launch the “Asare” scheme aimed at rehabilitating the displaced people in the flood-affected villages.
The Chief Minister said that at a time when the State was hit by floods, it was necessary for all to remain united and extend a helping hand to the victims. “We are all one. I appeal to all, including the Reddy brothers, to bury the minor differences and join hands for the development of the State,” he said.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said that Mr. Chidambaram had assured all additional assistance to rehabilitate the victims of flood-prone villages and that Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily would be visiting the State on Tuesday. “I will also meet the Prime Minister on November 5 or 6 and request him to visit some of the flood-affected areas and see the rehabilitation works undertaken,” he said.
