Raheen Memon, wife of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon, who was executed in the Nagpur Central prison on Thursday morning, is “inconsolable” and in a “state of shock” after her husband’s death, a source close to Memon family told The Hindu .
“Raheen has been continuously crying for over 15 days now. She is inconsolable and has been falling unconscious due to crying excessively. Her condition has worsened in the last 24 hours,” informed the source.
Yakub’s entire family is in a state of shock over his execution.
“It will take them a long time to accept it. They would have accepted it [execution] had he really been involved in the blasts. But they believed that he was innocent and hanged for being a brother of Tiger Memon,” said another source.
