Woman takes in-laws to police for toilet

A woman, battling humiliation in the absence of a toilet at home, dragged her father-in-law to the police station and allegedly forced him to sign a bond that he would get one built soon. The incident took place at Cheggan Neura in Minapur block of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar.

Jyoti, the officer in-charge of the women’s police station in Muzaffarpur, told PTI that the woman had submitted a written complaint on September 25 against her father-in-law and brother-in-law for ignoring her pleas for a toilet.

Because of the hardship, she would come to her marital home only when her husband returned from his work place in Tamil Nadu. She would again shift to her father’s house after he went back to work.

Finding no solution to her woes, the woman lodged a complaint with the police against her father-in-law and brother-in-law.

The police summoned the accused to the station on September 26, Ms. Jyoti said.

Signs bond

The father-in-law signed the bond. “We asked them to do it within a week, but they sought more time to arrange for money. After the compromise, the woman withdrew her complaint.”
