Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India would stand by Bangladesh always and continue to walk the path together.

In an hour-long speech organised by the University of Dhaka just before his departure for New Delhi at the end of his two-day visit to Bangladesh on Sunday, he lauded Bangladesh for making progress “despite obstacles.” “India rejoices in Bangladesh's success,” he said.

His speech at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre was attended by over a 1,000 civil society members who applauded the Indian Prime Minister for being “visionary” and “outspoken.” ”We are with you, we will move ahead taking you along,” Mr. Modi said.

In typical style, Mr.Modi began his address by saying in Bangla “Kemon aachen Bangladesh?”

The Prime Minister termed ratification of the land boundary agreement between Bangladesh and India as “no less significant than the fall of the Berlin Wall” referring to an article he read in Bangladesh newspaper. “If you think LBA is about land going this side and that side then think again. It is a meeting of hearts,” he said in his address to civil society members.

On terrorism, he said: “Tourism unites the world while terrorism divides… let’s promote tourism.”

“I was very happy to hear Sheikh Hasina say Bangladesh has zero tolerance for terrorism.”
