Cinema owners in western U.P. have agreed to screen Muzaffarnagar: The Burning Love Story , a film on the Muzaffarnagar riots, which its makers had alleged was “unofficially banned” in the region.

Cinema owners had refused to show the film when it was released on November 17, after they allegedly received oral orders from the district administrations to not screen the movie. The “ban” led producer Manoj Mandi to petition the Supreme Court, seeking clarification on whether the State government had the authority to ban a movie that had been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification.

Finally, on Sunday, the film was screened in Muzaffarnagar.
