“We are not here for vote-bank or power politics. We are here to change the politics of the country,” declared Arvind Kejriwal, convener of the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party at a public meeting here on Monday.
He formally announced the name of the party at Jantar Mantar, from where he and several other activists along with Anna Hazare had launched the anti-corruption movement last April.
On Monday, attempts were made to give the centre stage to the common citizen through the slogan: “Humara neta kaisa ho, aam aadmi jaisa ho.”
Naming several ministers and political leaders, he said the list of politicians against whom there were charges of corruption was long but if the Aam Aadmi Party came to power, they would be investigated and prosecuted within six months. “The [anti-corruption] Jan Lokpal Bill,” he asserted, “can be passed within 15 days. The CBI can be made independent and fast track courts set up to try the corrupt and punish them.”
Sharing the dais with him were members of the newly elected national executive, senior lawyer Shanti Bhushan and former Navy Chief Admiral Ramdass who helped frame the party’s constitution based on the principle of decentralised democracy. Mr. Bhushan donated Rs. 1 crore to the party.
Lamenting that after 65 years of freedom, the common citizen was still struggling for basic requirements like electricity, water, food, education and healthcare, Mr. Kejriwal said, “This is so because we are first-class citizens who are victims of third-class governance.”
With the entry of their party, the 2014 elections will witness a unique battle between “netas” (politicians) and “aam aadmi” (common man), he predicted. “Corruption,” he said, “was fuelling inflation as corporate interests were being taken care of by the government at the expense of the common citizens.”
Vowing to make public the donations received by their party, as well as its expenses, he dared the Congress and the BJP to reveal how much they were spending on advertisements for the Gujarat polls.
He asked his supporters to pledge that they would not take or give bribes, not “sell” their vote for “liquor, money or sarees,” not vote on consideration of caste or religion and exercise their franchise in every election.

It is time for people who are supportive of the idea to join the party and do their best
involve actively in politics.
No one down there serve the country willingly without think about their
position and politics. He is not an exception either.
You are showing dream to Aam Admi. Do not disappoint them. I wish you
good luck.
We are very proud to have persons like you in India who has exposed
Prime minister, Sonia gandhi nephew and Rahul Gandhi's brother-in law
Robert Vadra, gadkari, Salman Kurshid looting our public money and not
providing efficient service to public. We have heard about developed
countries where PM, president and ministers resigning from the post
and making public service clean of corruption if any allegation
against PM or president or ministers is made. But in India, the
corrupt rulers are continued to rule and making further prevailing
of corruption. Please make India corruption-free and choose sincere
leaders who will honestly work and respond to Aam admi and prove that
democracy is for the people (aam admi) and by the people (aam admi)
and turn India into developed country.
Kejriwal and other members of his party should clearly say how and
when they would come to power. He is talking about power in the central or states also.If so he should give the names of the persons who would be
contesting the elections in both areas. The candidates should project and work for reaching the goals from now on.People would know them too well to vote in the coming elections.
The mojority in India needs a clean and corruption free government in India as the common men are fed up with the outbreak of the news of corruption.
This is the right time awaits a paradigm shift in Indian politics. This is the right time to launch a political party based on the principles that are voiced now. That means you will not support neither Congress or BJP to form an alliance whom you blame now until you secure full majority. Make it clear now that will allow the masses to believe in you. They have to believe you first for achieve any success that you are looking forward.
'Action speaks louder than words'. The entire nation is watching on you. If you deviate or derail from your initial pledge, I will not be wondering if you are rated as one of the biggest betrayer of people's trust in the days to come!!
Wish you all the success!!
Let us hope that at least now, Indians realize the importance of having a party filled with leaders who have honesty and integrity, who are academicians, who have sacrificed their lucrative jobs for the sake of country.
More than anyone else, it is people of India who should realize and own the responsibility of electing people, who may not being to their caste but are good leaders; who may not advocate for fiscally devastating policies to attract voter base but, who take tough decisions in the best interest of the country with a futuristic mindset.
Best wishes for the new entrant. Don't try to make lip service and false
declarations similar to the false promises made by the ordinary street
politicians of this country. One should Keep his house clean before
venturing to prosecute the other politicians. What happened to the
october declaration of Mr. Kejriwal forming a lofty panel, of 3 former
judges of repute, to probe certain allegations against M/s Bhusan,
Damania and Gandhi? Why no reply for the email query on this subject for
the last one month?
Great going Sir. I wish the AAP the very best.
