Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh on Sunday said that the action in the case of the cash strapped Kingfisher airlines will depend on the kind of response that the carrier will give to the show cause notice served by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for cancellation/suspension of its licence.

The DGCA asked Kingfisher to submit a concrete plan on how it intended to clear debt and resume operations. “It cannot just say that funds will come from here and there,” Mr. Singh told journalists on the sidelines of the launch of Telangana unit of Rashtriya Lok Dal headed by him.

Kingfisher also has to satisfy the DGCA about maintaining safety norms as it involved operating the fleet after a long gap. This was important from the point of view of human life.

Mr. Singh sympathised with the crew and employees of Kingfisher for working without salaries in the past seven months in the hope that the airline would be revived. Their hopes were dashed now. It was in this context that a woman committed suicide as her husband had been without salary for several months.
