Saying that Jan Man (the mind of the people) is changing with two years of BJP rule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi again chanted the ‘Vikas’ (development) Mantra at the ‘Vikas Parva’ rally here on Sunday.

Addressing a mammoth gathering on the High School Ground, Mr. Modi said: “Vikas is my objective, inspiration and strength. And I need your cooperation to take the nation forward further.”

Takes a dig at Oppn.

In his 50-minute address, Mr. Modi took a dig at the Opposition, engaging the crowd in a conversation at regular intervals and telling them what his government had done for the poor in the past two years.

He said he had come to give an account of his rule to the people and seek their blessings. “The earlier governments kept beating the drums about their achievements, while my government utilised the two-year period for initiating projects to resolve the people’s problems. We have withdrawn 1,200 archaic laws that were creating problems for the people,” he said.

Referring to the criticism of his government, Mr. Modi highlighted what he had done during the two years, including the Prime Minister’s Krishi Sinchai Yojna, Soil Health Card and E-Mandi. Without referring to the outcome of the recent elections, he said people themselves had now taken the responsibility of making the country “Congress-free.”

Elaborating on the advantages of Soil Health Card, Mr. Modi said the government was working towards doubling the farmers’ income by 2022.

The ‘Jan Dhan’ scheme resulted in the poor depositing huge sums in banks. If the poor were given education, employment and health care, they would always shoulder the responsibility of taking the country forward, the Prime Minister said.
